Fix common issues and get the most out of Lossless Scaling

Input Lag Issues

Problem: Noticeable delay between input and on-screen action.

Solutions:

  • Use LSFG 3.0 instead of LSFG 2.3 (lower input lag)
  • Enable "Input Lag Priority" mode in settings
  • Disable V-Sync in-game and in Lossless Scaling
  • Use Performance Mode instead of Quality Mode
  • Close background applications that may cause latency
  • Update GPU drivers to the latest version

Ghosting / Motion Blur

Problem: Trailing or blurry images during fast movement.

Solutions:

  • Switch to LSFG 3.0 (better motion handling)
  • Reduce frame generation intensity
  • Use Quality Mode instead of Performance Mode
  • Increase sharpness in upscaling settings
  • Disable in-game motion blur
  • Lower the resolution scale slightly

Visual Artifacts

Problem: Strange visual glitches, flickering, or distortion.

Solutions:

  • Update Lossless Scaling to the latest version
  • Update GPU drivers
  • Try different upscaling methods (FSR, NIS, LS1)
  • Disable frame generation temporarily to isolate the issue
  • Check if the game has exclusive fullscreen mode enabled
  • Lower the resolution scale

Black Screen / Not Working

Problem: Game shows black screen or Lossless Scaling doesn't activate.

Solutions:

  • Ensure game is in windowed or borderless windowed mode
  • Run Lossless Scaling as Administrator
  • Check that the game window is focused when pressing the hotkey
  • Try a different hotkey (default is F11)
  • Disable fullscreen optimizations in game properties
  • Check Windows compatibility settings
  • Restart both the game and Lossless Scaling

Game Compatibility Issues

Problem: Lossless Scaling doesn't work with specific games.

Solutions:

  • Check if the game supports windowed mode
  • Try borderless windowed instead of windowed
  • Disable game overlays (Discord, Steam, etc.)
  • Disable anti-cheat software temporarily (may interfere)
  • Check the official Lossless Scaling compatibility list
  • Try different scaling methods
  • Update the game to the latest version

Performance Problems

Problem: Lower FPS than expected or stuttering.

Solutions:

  • Use Performance Mode in LSFG settings
  • Lower the resolution scale (0.75-0.85)
  • Use FSR Performance mode for upscaling
  • Close unnecessary background applications
  • Check GPU temperature and thermal throttling
  • Update GPU drivers
  • Disable Windows Game Mode if causing issues
